what should the protein count be in a woman in her mid seventies and in reasonably good health?

    30% of your diet should be protein. That is a pretty standard number. For a woman in her seventies, I'm guessing she eats 1800 - 2200 calories per day. Anyway, the math is this:

    At 1800 calories X .3 = 540 calories.. There are 4 calories per gram of protein, so 540/4 = 135 grams of protein.
