1009 - MISC Form Question?

Question

I am the treasurer of a non profit.  I was told at a late date that I need to issue 1099 - MISC forms.  Not very many.  But it's too late to order the form from the IRS.

Is it acceptable to construct these forms in a Word .doc and use that to send to my 1099 MISC recipients?  

I have experiemented and can make this pretty much the same as the IRS form.  

I found a program that can generate an acceptable form that doesn't look anything like the IRS form.  So I can't see why a form that resembles the IRS form wouldn't work.  

Any suggestions?

Dear Queen:  Look at www.irs.gov/forms and you can see this years 1099Misc. Some companies have these forms Office Max etc. If you still have an issue call the IRS at 800-829-1040 and ask about a substitute form. Remember a copy of this form must be submitted to the IRS, check for your service center.
