Question about travelling in NYC?

I will be in NYC from 31/3 - 7/4. Does anyone have any suggestions on what good things we can do/see.

Also do you know of any day trips that go from NYC to Washington DC that we can do.

If anyone knows of any good concerts etc. that is happening on that week. That would also be helpful.

Thank You!

Update:

Could people be more descriptive please!

To go to DC take the Amtrak train at Penn Station, Seventh Avenue and 32nd Street.

As far as sightseeing in NYC, there are a million things to see in Manhattan. You could also venture to Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. It all depends what interests you. If you enjoy musical theater, Broadway. If you enjoy cutting edge music Irving Place or the Beacon Theater. Art, try MOMA or the MetArt.

If you're into music, Greenich Village still has plenty of clubs.

For things to do it looks like Native New Yorker took care of the things you can do - but only in Manhattan. There ARE other areas of New York that are outside of Manhattan - better places, actually, like Brooklyn :) Since you'll be there for the good summer months, go down to Brighton Beach and Coney Island - Coney Island for the best friggin' hot dog ever at Nathan's, and Brighton Beach for a relaxing beach experience ... take the Q to Brighton Beach (which will also take you to Coney Island two stops later) or the N, F, D or B to Coney Island and you can walk down the board walk to Brighton Beach. There's also Queens - Howard Beach is pretty fun, although it gets crowded in the summer sometimes.

As for the trips to DC from New York - Megabus is super cheap. It can be as cheap as $4.00 each way from NY to DC.

As for concerts, I'm not much of a concert goer as I am a bar hopper, lol, but there are always free concerts or live bands at various places in Greenwich Village. Take the D to the West 4th stop - guaranteed you'll run into something :)

    Good luck!
