IS ANYONE ELSE OTHER THAN ME WORRIED ABOUT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN 2012?
EVER SINCE I STARTED READING AND SEEING VIDEOS ABOUT ALL THE DISASTER PREDICTED FOR THE EARTH IN THE YEAR 2012,I CAN'T STOP FROM BEING WORRIED.I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE THINKS ABOUT THIS.WHAT WORRIES ME THE MOST IS THAT IT IS A MAYAN CALENDAR PREDICTION (WHICH IS VERY ACCURATE) AND ALSO ASTRONOMERS ARE TALKING ABOUT IT.PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU ALL THINK.

I'm 51 yrs old, and when I was a teenager, I remember reading about doomsday predictions, and going to my dad and asking him about (I felt worried, the way you do now), and he said:
"They have been predicting the end of the world, since the beginning of time"
So THINK about that...many many people and religions etc., have made predictions that have come and gone...
So stop worrying...get whatever enjoyment you can out of the life you have..not in a destructive manner, not harmful to yourself and others, but just enjoy being alive...
Life would be very boring if you knew when it would end...it is an exciting (sometimes scary) adventure...

I have seen those same shows, I have known about the Mayan calender for a long time now. only in the last 5 years that more people have been interested in the subject, and trying to put a hodge podge of information together.
The same type of frenzy was over the year 2000 problem and computers.
It took me in for about a week then I came to my senses, well before the start of 2000. that problem was that the date code would be 00, which some one pointed out that was the shutdown code for the computer. so there was so much hype about it and the government got involved in this hype. I thought about it after I believed the hype. the truth of the mater is in that situation is if you know anything about mnemonics programing of a computer, there is two types of coding
control codes and data codes. 00 as a control code shuts down the computer, where as the data code (such as a date) is stored and used as data. the date code is data used by the control codes not the other way around. the only real problem was with the financial computers. Where the date would go back to January 1, 1900. that was the only true problem with the Y2K. but people belived that ariplanes would fall from the sky, and such.
Also some years back the same doom and gloom people predicted major earth desasters when all except one planet lined up on the dame side of the sun, predicting desasters due the the increase gravitional pull of the planets. the world did not end then.
So what happens when the sun eclipes the exact center of the galctic core. the glactic core is in vew every night that you can see the Milky way. it is just the crossing of the exact center form our releative position that will occure and the sun will at that point eclipe its center. it is that eclipes the Mayans started and ended their calander on. Just a point of astromatical referance. just like a map you sart a point A go to point B. It is just a time referance. no more no less. The Mayans did not have the mechanical clocks, so they use the stars to keep time and a calander is what? a long clock. if you do not wind or change the battery in you watch or clock it will run down and stop. Does that mean that time stops then? NO just your clock.
if anything truly devestating would have occured it would have been during the plantary alignment years ago. I lived throuh it nothing earth shattering happen as far as I can remember.
but the bad side is, someone can try to use it for their advantage, as a "sign form God" to start something. case in point; comets where once believe to be a sign of bad omens to some. and then used it to frighten and control others. you can see where this could lead.

21 December 2012: The Boilerplate Answer
We hear each day "two oh one two"
The kids all ask if it is true.
"Nibiru, the planet we must fear,
Or planet X shall soon be here.
The Mayan count runs to an end.
I was told this by a friend.”
Nibiru the hoax world of Sitchin
Fit only for the garbage bin.
Devoid of fact, reason or wit,
Science laughs at all the talk of it.
Of planet “X” Nan Lieder cries,
And yet she won't look at the skies,
To come in four short years it's true,
The damn thing must be now in view!
"Where is it?" Science asks with glee,
"You said, 'Beware two thousand three!'
With Earth it didn't make a tryst,
We're very sure it don't exist!"
Galactic lines are the next fright,
And yet the angles are not right.
“Six degrees off!” the scientists say,
“It happens near each solstice day.”
But it would no difference make,
You can be sure the thing’s a fake.
"Planets align!" or so some say
"It will be on that very day."
Yet naught of fact now can they quote,
I'd like to take them by the throat
And try to squeeze some truth right in,
But murder now they say's a sin.
Failed prophets, fools, those full of fraud,
Are people with whom we all are bored.
Copyright to me, and subject to “improvement” as
and when the inspiration strikes.

Of course the Mayan "calendar" is accurate, it is just a count of days.
The Mayans did not predict anything about the supposed end of the world, that was invented a few years ago by woo-woo scribblers like Jose Arguelles, who is a musician and a gibbering idiot.
Everything else about 2012 is lies.
Astronomers only talk about it when they laugh at it. The people you see on videos and web sites supporting the idea are not astronomers and not scientists, they are frauds. They want to sell you worthless books and more videos, or get you into ghastly religious cults.

The Mayan calendar was very accurate. Really. It counted days. Just days. not months. Not solar years. Days. Sunrise to sunrise. You can't do much wrong with it.
The Mayan calendar did also not predict anything. The mayan calendar has as much prophetic power as your telephone number. It does not even end in 2012. Their numbers go from 0 to 19 not 1 to 12. And even worse, the Maya did not care much about their calendar ending one day. They even made predictions for 4772 on their temples. All hail king Pacal of Palenque, maybe something bad happens if we stop praising him before that date.
The end of the world stuff was invented in the 1970s and has not even any real connection to the myths of the Maya. Their creation myth had two failed attempts of the gods to create life, with the second world lasting about 13 * 400 years before the gods attempted it again. Successful in the third attempt, by using maize. The gods have no reason to destroy their creation in the Maya mythology, because this time there is life.
But: If you like drugs, have superficial knowledge of Maya mythology and no clue about life at all, you might also invent the myth of the cataclysm (great deluge according to the dictionary). All a human creation of drugged New Agers. I would not even believe such people if they claim that they can fly.
And now, find your brain again and put it back into place.

First of all, turn off the Caps Lock on your computer, as it makes your text really hard to read.
Nobody who knows anything about astronomy or archaeology is worried about what will happen in 2012.
Scientists don't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, other than the solstice, which happens every year.
None of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" simply don't exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn't line up with the galactic centre; it's 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.
All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don't take any of it seriously!

Nothing will happen. The end of the world had been predicated for 1000's of years. Remember the Y2K scare that the computers would revert the date back to 1900 & trigger all of The USA's & Russia's nuclear missiles to launch? Obviously it never happened. Also there were predictions of severe climatic change on 05/05/2000. I remember hearing it on the Art Bell show. There were even books on the shelves of Barns & Noble about it. 05/05/2000 came, & guess what? You got it. Nothing happened. So the doomsday sooth sayers had to try to find another date. Behold 12/21/2012. When nothing happens then. they'll just pull another date of the hat for the end of the world.

PLEASE DON"T SHOUT!!!
I don't know what you think you mean by the Mayan calendar being "accurate". It was just a count of days, it's not hard to do that if you have a group of priests doing it, and being careful to mark every day.
As for 2012, about all the Mayans "predicted" was that it would be a new year, time to get another calendar. Just like most people do every year. Except that in their counting system, it would be a nice round number, just like 2000 was in our system.

well we are sposed to get hit by a meteor in 2012 i think it was. yep end of the world. definitely. if it'll make you feel better just start being prepared now. alwasy have enough canned food for a couple of days or more. batteries, clean drinking water, you know stuff like that. you should have that around anyways because you never know what could happen. dry matches, candles, emergency blankets, you can get a list or a packet of stuff you'd need i think at your fire station. but just don't worry about it for the most part. do you freak out over the fact that you are going to die eventually? it's not worth worrying about. good luck with all that

I hope something good happens, like human race entering next stage of progression but I just can't see this happening. I think this world needs fundamental changes but I don't they will come so soon. Do you remember what people were saying nine years ago apocalypses, second coming of jesus christ we are all going to die ah ah !!! and nothing happened. There is always a possibility but I would not sell my house so I can take the most expensive vacation before its the end.

I am not worried at all. Look at all the other times throughout the years that various things were supposed to happen? Its just another myth. 2012 will come and go and we'll all still be exactly the same as we are now, only 3 years older!!!
