Wanted...the best burger?

We were just watching "How I Met Your Mother" and their "perfect burger search, and it made me want a good burger. So know I just want to know what is a very "the best" burger recipe you have made that's tried and true. What do you put on it?

mine rocks! here it is for you to try.

    Blue Cheese Bacon Burgers

    David Herzog

    6 lbs. ground sirloin

    2 ½ lbs. bacon

    12 oz. Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled

    2 medium onions, sliced thin

1 head romaine or Greenleaf lettuce

    3 tomatoes, sliced thin

    Mayonnaise

    Mustard

    Salt and pepper to taste

In a 4 qt stock pot place bacon in pot and cover with 2 qts. water. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer and cook 1 ½ to 2 hours. Meanwhile form two 3 ounce patties, 5 inches in diameter for each burger.

To build the burger place 1 to 2 Tbs. cheese in center of one patty and cover with second patty, seal all edges very well. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.

Sauté onions till clear or light brown in color, remove from heat and set aside. When burgers are ready to be cooked, place a little bacon in a egg ring or tuna can with the ends removed to form a small bacon patty and fry on Dutch oven lid until browned over medium high heat and turn over and cook 3 minutes more.

Cook burger 3 to 4 minutes then flip and puncture small hole in center and cook 3 to 4 minutes more. Pick out some bacon and form into a patty and brown on both sides. Top burger with bacon patty, then onions and other condiments.

    Serves 12

    1. Really good hard rolls from a bakery. Buttered and lightly toasted.

    2. Sauteed red onions, slightly browned and soft.

    3. 80% ground beef mixed with just a bit of salt, pepper and onion powder. Formed loosely into a patty and grilled in a buttered skillet, med to med-high heat for about 6 minutes per side.

    4. Kraft DELUXE american singles

Cook burger, top with sauteed red onion then slice of cheese until melted. Put burger on toasted bun and garnish with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard or whatever or nothing depending on your liking!

I've never made my own burgers before, but it probably tastes really good if you put various spices and onions and stuff in the beef patty.

I love melting sharp cheddar cheese on my burger, and also putting on ketchup and avocado slices:) And fries on the side! (make homemade crinkle cut ones! :) )

i know you want to make your own burger but may i suggest the Monster Burger from Hardee's. They are, without a doubt, the greatest burgers you can buy fast food or otherwise.

Paula Dean of food network makes a burger but instead of a bun uses a glazed donut. it has bacon, cheese and a fried egg.

this will probably give you a heart attack.
