What area would I be better off in?

I am a college student right now who is pretty set on becoming a middle school teacher. Right now, I am majoring in history/social studies because I always saw myself doing that, but lately I have been thinking about maybe becoming a science teacher instead. I am real conflicted about this and was wondering if anyone who has experience in the education field knows- which area are schools more in need of? Is there a heavier shortage in either area? I know both subjects well and could be a good teacher of either, but I would welcome input from anyone who works in the field.

ok well from experience i would say history, and here is why

with history you can teach it in lots of different ways and it will be much more interesting for you and your students....

cause if your gonna teach middle school then science it will just be boring....if you do any experiments they will suck and if you wanna lecture they wont listen....cause to be honest who cares how many protons that element has....or how to measure velocity the right way....not middle school kids...

but if you up there talking about how some guy slept with the kings wife...and then killed him to take the throne...well there is like 10 ways to make that interesting....plus with history you can go off topic alot and just talk about current events that are interesting....

but its important to get the part of you that wants to teach science out too......but i don't know how to help with that....

    hope i helped over all
