What would you do to fix the economy?
If you were the President of the USA, what would be the first three things that you would do to get the economy back on track?

1) I would start by punishing those responsible for the collapse in the first place like those crooked CEO's from AIG who have continued to laugh at our Govt by abusing the bailout money that was given to them after begging for a bailout. All those CEO's would be fired on the spot & put more responsible people in charge. I would put money for Bridges roads to fix which would result in more job opportunities. And finally i would start putting jobs HERE in this country instead giving a Customer Service job to someone from India.

The first thing I would do is crack open a beer and watch its recovery on TV.
Fixing the economy is not the job of the President. The Government does not run the economy. We should allow the free market to recover. When a 3,000/sqft house is worth $100k, somebody will be buying it. And then on up the economy goes...
Instead we have this mentality that no industry should ever fail. Instead we should issue billions and trillions in debt to prop up overbuilt and inefficient industries to keep on going as usual.
The news reports that 7 dealerships are closing everyday in the US. I say, good. If the economy cannot support all those dealerships, they are no longer needed. let them fail. Then when there aren't enough dealerships, more will be built and the recovery will begin.
The Government should not be running the economy. Let the economy run itself. And save the taxpayer trillions in the process.

First, I would tell the sour-grapes crowd to get over it and get on the bus. We're all in this together and just because Karl Rove's vision of a Republican empire fell to pieces all because of Dubya is no reason to lay down and moan that Obama can't do the job.
Then, I would stop bailing out the banks unless they give a solid promise that they will actually HELP people with that (OUR) money. What they're doing with it NOW is redecorating their own offices and buying corporate jets. Get that crap out right now.
Then, I'd send Rush Limbaugh a gift certificate to the best psychiatric care that money can buy.
On a more idealistic front, I would try to get marijuana legalized and TAXED. This would do two things -- get stoners off the hook and INSTANTLY add a billion dollars to the economy. If alcohol can be legal, why the f can't pot be? This makes no sense to me and never has.
