Italian cooks...do you have this recipe?

We ate at an Italian restaurant here and my son had this spaghetti dish that was wonderful. I would like to make this for him, but cannot find a recipe. I asked and the restuarant said it is family recipe and would not give it out.

It did not have your typical tomato sauce for spaghetti.

It had oil, garlic, italian sausage, mushrooms, and other spices. It did have egg in it according to the menu, but you couldn't tell at all. It did not have any egg flavor whatsoever.

I tried a carbonara recipe on allrecipes.com which I thought was similiar, but it was no where near the same. So I don't think this was a carbonara.

Just wondering if anyone happen to ever hear of this and knows how to make it. Thanks for your help!!

I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on it...you said it wasn't tomato based?? As for the egg...just beat a couple of eggs in a bowl and then stir it into hot cooked spaghetti...the hot spaghetti cooks the egg and tossing it around just spreads it out so it doesn't even appear to have egg in it. As for the basics with any Italian dish you take olive oil and garlic and sautee that then add the sausage and mushrooms. The other spices are likely oregano and parsley. A nice sauce that is tomato based is a simple tomato sauce...sautee crushed garlic in a bit of oil and add a can of crushed tomatoes. Throw in a couple of bay leafs and some parsley flakes and add some water so the sauce isn't too thick. Cook this for about 1/2 hour. Put the spaghetti/egg mixture on a plate, put some of the sausage and mushroom over that then pour the sauce over that.
