Not only Scotland. I believe Australia may have done the same. Scientology has been examined by these countries and unlike America, they have the balls to recognize that it doesn't even resemble a church, but is a "for profit" institution.

It's not about whether Scientology is allowed or not. It's was a choice that was made by Scientology itself.
In the case of Scotland where there has been a history suppression of the Scottish people and their independance, in the name of the "Church of England" etc. It was decided back in the late 1960's when it was first set up in Edinburgh, to call it the Hubbard Academy of Personal Independence, since it's purpose was to rehabilitate personal independence rather than control or dictate to the Scottish people.
Most people in the Western world equate the word "church" with Christianity and the Scientology religion is not related to Christianity in any way.
We simply wanted to make that distinction for the Scottish people.
It's not called the Church of Scientology in Israel either for similar reasons.

Because
Scotland does not recognize it as a religion.

Because in order to "move up" in the 'church' you have to pay them money.
It's seen as a cult in many areas of the world. And it should be seen that way here in the states too.

It's not a matter of "allowed" or not "allowed". It was our choice so that we weren't following hundreds of years of oppression of the Scottish people in the name of the "Church" (of England).
