Marinaded Mosquito Ragoût à la Parisienne
4 large mosquitoes, gutted and without wings
2 carrots
2 onions cut "en paysanne"
50 gr bacon
30 gr flour
50 ml oil
200 ml beef stock
100 ml cream
salt & pepper
Marinade:
500 ml red wine
200 ml wine vinegar
1 onion finely chopped
3 cloves
2 bay leaves
some peppercorn, crushed
1 clove of garlic, crushed
zest of 1 lemon
Method
Marinade: boil all the ingredients together (you can add the wings of the mosquitoes) and allow to cool before using.
Marinade the mosquitoes for two to three days. Drain thoroughly and brown well in the hot oil. Remove and reserve. In the same fat sweat the bacon and the chopped vegetables. Add the flour and brown it a little. Season. Boil up the marinade, strain it and add the meat and stock. Allow to braise for about 50 minutes. At the end of the cooking thicken the sauce with the cream; season. Bon appetite!

the other night i was wondering this same thing. i researched it, and discovered that it is very popular in many parts of the world to sprinkle dead mosquitos over steamed rice. they also go well in curry sauces.

o.O I thought Mr Frog just ate them just like that. I doubt they can be cooked since they are so tiny they will just be burnt quickly
