I wonder what the average age of contributors is?

Question

I have been an avid reader for many years, but I am learning about books I have never even heard of.    How can I have missed 'Twilight" which is obviously a favourite.    Is there anybody else in here who likes Alexander McCall Smith, Robin Cook, John Wyndham, Aldous Huxley, Evelyn Waugh, Graham Greene?   (To name a few!)

im 22, and my choice of authors is very scattered. i enjoy Jane Austen, Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Bronte, Mary Shelley, Alexandre Dumas, Laurie Halse Anderson, Zadie Smith, William Faulkner, Irvine Welsh, Frank McCourt, Louise Renninson, RA Salvatore, JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling, Phillip Pulmann...everything from fantasy, to antebellum southern stuff, to modern english lit.  i read entirely too much for my own good if that is possible, lol.

  oddly enough i havent heard of any of the authors you listed, except for Huxley.  im sure if i saw the titles of the others works, i would be like "oh yeah, now i remember" but i do not recall reading any of their works off the top of my head.  not saying i wouldnt if i had the chance, i just kind of read in phases.  one year ill be in love with all things fantasy.  the next year ill be in love with Faulkner.  and so on.  im sure the authors you listed will have their turns in my life at some point.  im going to barnes and noble this weekend, ill take a look then.

  as for all the twilighters on here (as the twilight fans are called) they range anywhere from 11, to about 24, but most of them come across as about 12 because the only thing they ever seem to be able to say about Twilight is that Edward is SOOO hot.  it may be a favorite but i sincerily hope it NEVER goes down in history as any sort of classic.  all it is is a horribly written story about a useless twat of a girl in love with a controling abusive stalkerish vampire, but she is too blinded by how hot he is to notice these things.  and so are most of the girls who have read it apparently.  im a girl, i read it, and i honestly do not understand the hype.  edward is far from the perfect man that so many young girls seem to think he is.  the only reason it has caught on is because its a modern teenage love story, and those are VERY easily marketable

Edit:  i also forgot to mention i love Chaim Potok.  we had to read The Chosen in school and i was the only one in the whole class who actually liked it.  i went out and read the sequal on my own time.  people thought i was crazy.  this was in 8th grade
