how best can i be helpful as project manager in bringing the awareness of HIV+ in urban area?

I'm not quiet sure about the role of a project manager, may be it requires you to manage the group members and advice them on what to and what not to. But as your project focusses on HIV, i would suggest you to include the following points:

1) 4 main ways of hiv transmission(i.e mother to baby, used syringes and needles, tattooing and multiple partners and NOT by touch or by contact )

2)symptoms(there are as such no sympots when you are hiv+, symptoms are visible in the later stage AIDS)

3)Tests to check hiv(western bolt and ELISA)

4)cure: there is no cure as such, prevention is the best cure.

5)explain the difference between hiv and AIDS(the former is the virus which lowers the efficiency of the immune system and the latter is the disease rather collection of diseases caused due to inefficent immune system)

Arrange some meetings and speeches to Create awareness of AIDS.among the people. You may choose orphanages, high schools and post offices and let a doctor , microbiologist or a social worker well versed on the subject speak about HIV+ infection and its' prevention and consequences.

If you get these activities published in the news papers , it will surely bring the required knowledge among the people and help them to take proper precautions to prevent it.All the best!

Bang a bunch of people and then tell them that you have HIV. You'll draw a lot of attention to the problem.

But seriously, just advertising. I'm sure everyone's scared of HIV already. I think you should do what you can to make sure that people have good access and information about services such as tests, medical help and insurance.

I would have to say that I think the best way to get the word out is to present it in an Urban manor. Have an awareness day at the local skating rink, teen and adult clubs, nail salons and hair salons. Speak with the owner/manager about coming in an speaking to the customers, setting up info booths at the clubs complete with condoms. We must get the word out because we are dying and that has to be taken seriously. Best of luck to you.
