    MALIGNITY : the state or character of being malign; malevolence; intense ill will; spite.

    Examples of this would include corruption, rigged election systems, political party fighting and infighting, rivalry at the expense of purpose by politicians or appointees et al.

    what kind of MANEUVER would you make if you wanted to win a writing contest?

    MANEUVER : an adroit move, skillful proceeding, etc., esp. as characterized by craftiness; ploy: political maneuvers.

    A movement or procedure involving skill and dexterity.

    A strategic action undertaken to gain an end.

    Artful handling of affairs that is often marked by scheming and deceit

    Examples could be plot twists, interesting use of plot devices, write the best story using the best idea, etc. Even entering the contest could be seen as a maneuver necessary to win it.

    DEPUTATION : the act of appointing a person or persons to represent or act for another or others.

    If you did not understand why you received a deputation, you would likely be unable to succeed in your duty.
