Yes but you must use proper tile paint. Please not that painted tiles never look that good as you can always see the paint streaks.

Yes it can be done. The following is the best procedure:
1. Clean the tile with product called Xylene. It is an expensive solvent but will ensure that the tile surface is clean to bond with the Epoxy paint.
2. Use a sander with 150 - 200 grit paper to rough up the surface of the tile.
3. Damp wipe down the roughed tile. Make sure you remove all dust.
4. Critical - Use an Epoxy primer to cover the tiles. You may need 2 coats.
5. Apply Epoxy paint over the epoxy primer and that will give you the finished desired and will stand up to scratches and peeling.
I am a construction site manager for a school district and this is the procedure that we have used in many schools. We did this to a school 3 years ago and the epoxy paint has never scratched or peeled. If it can withstand the abuse from middle school students it will work in your bathroom.
Best of Luck!

Yes you can get special paint for this job, but the best way would be to re-tile as it will look much better. You can tile over the old ones as this saves a lot of hassle and mess trying to get the old ones off. You need a special tile glue for tiling on tiles, and this is available at places like B & Q.

No That's not a good idea. While your shower is on the water can go onto the tiles and the paint will come off and also it can go moldy after a while so its better to get new ones or just take the tiles down and paint the wall instead
Good luck (:

I wouldn't. Bathroom tile is one of the places that needs chemicals to clean, and the last thing you want is to eat away at the paint (this can cause mold or mildew or other such nuisances to get pushed underneath, and cause a bigger mess than you originally had). They sell decorative stick-ons at most hardware stores and discount mass-merchandisers meant to go on the tile, that are water-proof, adhere well, are removable for cleaning, and are able to be reattached after-wards.

Yes I did and it looked ok - go to your DIY shop and you can buy tile paint or if not you can get a primer and then 'normal' paint over the top, I did two colours over dull flowery beige tiles and it lasted quite a while before they peeled!

yes you can ive done it you can choose to use actual tile paint or do as i did.... and paint with normal emulsion and use clear gloss over them use 2 coats of clear gloss i did and my kitchen and bathroom turned out fine.... even next to the shower you'd think the gloss would be affected by the steam /water but it wasn't good luck......
