Most adapted to the new technology. Much the same as the TV manufacturers shift from CRT to LCD screens today.
One feature of the new technologies is the level of outsourcing that occurs - manufacturers buying in what is needed. I should imagine much of the old technologies and the people who were carrying it out disappeared in the process.
