what is POP3, IMAP,SMTP ?

I am fairly new to computers but I am logical . I just got a used laptop that I want to use at starbucks but when I go to set this thing up I have to fill in these spaces . These are the only answers . How do I find out what the incoming and outgoing servers are ?

    First of all you must have a server account to access the mail protocols. They will provide you with the address needed. Pop3 and smtp are the only two you need. Imap is the protocol used by your mail program.

    They would look something like this:

    pop.msn.com for recieving mail.

    smtp.msn.com for sending mail.

    You need to fill in your own server name in place of msn.com

    It is usually your e-mail address after the @
