If you set your computer up for the spanish keyboard, you can do this through the regional settings in the Windows operating system. There are websites that show how to do this. You will get a langauge bar on your computer that has EN/ES . When you choose ES then when you type the semi colon key, it yields ñ, as the spansih keyboard is a bit different than the English one.
Do a google on "typing accents in Spanish" and you will find websites that explain in detail how to set your computer up for the regional langauges and what fonts to pick. If you are not Windows then you will have to find out how it is done on your type of operating system. But most recent operating systems support foreign lanaguage fonts through "unicode."

you have to know what the symbol code is for that letter. Usually you have to press ALT and then a 4 digit code: for example if you press alt and then 0222 from the number pad, you'll get this symbol: Ã if you don't know the number code, open up microsoft word, then select insert from the top tabs and then select symbol. scroll till you find the right letter.
The squiggle you refer to is called a "Tilde". It turns an "N" sound to an "enye" sound.
