What's The K-Factor For Nikon Light Meters?
Does anyone happen to know what the K-Factor is for Nikon light meters? More specifically, a Nikon D50. I compared it to my N8008s, and both meter the scene identically. But since I do not have a calibrated monitor, it's difficult to pinpoint the k-factor, or if in fact it has one or not.
Something I did notice is that a single value placed on Zone V turns out quite a bit lighter than normally, when viewing on the back LCD screen. But when I upload the image to my computer, the value seems a bit darker, but not much. Can anyone help me out?

The only published K factor ( reflective meter calibration constant ) for Nikon I have seen is K=12.50

Nikon does follow ISO 2720:1974. K recommended by ANSI/ISO 2720-1974 is 10.6 to 13.4 But you may want to contact thier support folks

I did a search on Nikonians which rarely lets me down and I did not find anything on it but it could be there and I missed it/ I am not sure how middle grey figures into the RGB Color Matrix Meter. But I'd be willing to bet its far different from the spot or center weighted meter.

Get either the 35mm f/1.8G or the 50mm f/1.4G AF-S. The 50mm f/1.8D is the cheapest, but won't autofocus on the D40. EDIT: Fast telephoto zooms are ridiculously expensive. The cheapest f/2.8 zoom, the 80-200 f/2.8, is $600 used and won't autofocus on your D40. The 70-200 VR that will autofocus on the D40 is $2000.
