The "accidental decorator"--need to move forward...?

My interior designer had a stroke and needed some help so at some point I offered to help her. I worked with her for several years as she tried to retire her practice. At some point, she let me work with her clients and now that my designer is disabled, I want to get some kind of professional certification. I am 54, and I do not want to go back to college and don't see myself as an interior designer, just a decorator. I am unable to work full-time due to health reasons, so I don't want to spend a fortune on training, fees, etc. I just want to learn, grow...and entrance to trade marts would be GREAT, too.

Any advice? Thanks!

Maybe you can get a part-time position with a store, like jc penney, as one of their decorator associates. Then, ask how to get in the trade marts through them.

I had another idea...see if you can get connected with real estate agents as a "stager".
