how many songs does the ipod nano chromatic 8GB hold?

it depends on a bunch of things, such as song duration and bitrate. longer songs with higher bitrates will be much larger than short songs with low bitrates and will take up more space. apple's ad might say it'll hold some-thousand songs, but that's based off of low bitrate songs at three and a half minutes each.

i have a four gig nano and it currently holds an average of 500 songs.

its supposed to hold 2000 songs.

but thats assuming they're all 4 minutes long and the quality of the songs also affects it.
