When pairing a guitar head with cab.....ohms?

my head is 4 ohms, and my 4x12 cab is selectable between 4, 8, and 16 ohms. How should I set the cab?

Ideally you want the head and the cab to match, but you can run that cab on any of those settings without damaging your gear. (You'll just have lower output with higher impedance). When the impedance on the cab is lower than on the head, that's when things start blowing up.

4 Ohms. Always match the impedance.
