2000 Ford Ranger alarm system?
OK so, my husband's truck has an alarm system that has been on the fritz for a while. No biggie, he disabled it. BUT, he is deployed and the battery went dead on it...and the alarm system is totally trippin' now!! It's back on, the light is ALWAYS blinking (thus, running the battery dead, again), and anytime the truck door is open, the darn thing goes off. And when I am driving it, it goes off all by itself, for no reason whatsoever. GRRRRR HOW do I disable it? What fuse goes to it? I can't find the manual, either....of course.
Thanks!

IF properly installed the alarm module should have been installed under the steering column area. There should be a black module with about 8-12 wires coming out of it. One of those wires will have a in line fuse.
Remove the fuse & you should be ok unless there is a starter interrupt hooked up in which case your truck will now not start.
I suggest driving it to a local stereo/alarm shop & have them disengage the alarm. It is not that hard to do when you are a professional. 10 minutes max.

If it's a factory alarm remove the fuse if it's aftermarket remove the whole alarm system.People are most likely to not pay any attention to it anyway.

I am assuming that this is an aftermarket alarm that someone installed, correct?
Locate the alarm itself, (it's probably under the hood) and cut the wires going to it.
Make certain that you just cut this wire and nothing else, realize too that this is an 'emergency' solution
