My husband's really, REALLY wants to learn to play the guitar. I would like to purchase the guitar & lessons.?

His birthday is on Valentine's day (and his favorite color is read), so I'd like to purchase a red guitar for him.

The problem is that I had absolutely no idea about guitars. All I know is that he wants to play like Ernie Isley.

I've done some research, and I believe Ernie Isley played the bass guitar. Is this right? And, how & where do I buy a guitar?

Oh, and what price range should I expect.

Thanks a bunch!

Go to a local music store and talk with the manager and explain what you need and about the guy, Ernie Isle that you want a guitar like his, I am sure he will set you up. Plan on spending a bunch of money this first time though. You will need the guitar, guitar case, guitar strings, and several sets of strings. You will need some sheet music if he already knows how to read music. You will need guitar picks and a case to keep them in so they don't end up all over the place. And a big red bow to wrap around it all.

What a good wife you are. But are you ready to listen to him pratice every minute of every day that he isn't at work. Buy ear plugs for you and for hubby so he doesn't lose his hearing like my son did.

Source(s): You should be able to set up lessons at the music store. Let them know you want them for hubby and ask price. Get several names. You can pick up guitars at pawn shops for much less money, check there too.

I play the guitar if you are a first timer then... it all depends if you are sure you wanna play the guitar then you can learn on an electric guitar but suggest starting on a hollow guitar. Don`t buy the guitar online because if you do then you will not get any advice on it. I suggest you go to a proprt guitar store not a store like target ot wal mart but one meant for playing guitar you can easilly find a store like that on google then once you get to the store the peron who works there will be able to find a guitar thats your size, you like, and your budget. But guitars are not exactly cheap...

    i'd consider trying this one.

it's not a bass but guitar is more fun to play than bass...

for a guitar that will hold up nicely, you should expect to pay around 200 or higher...
