Is this obsessive compulsive behavior?

I am obsessed with winning the lottery I can't help it! Luckily I don't always buy tickets. I have a strategy but my stratagy don't always work so I don't always buy tickets. When I feel good about my numbers I play them and sometimes I win my money back and sometimes I win more but Iv never won the jackpot. I never spend over 20 bucks and so far I haven't spent any money on the lottery in the past 5 weeks I wanted to the last week of January but I had to rush off to work and diden't have time to fill out the play slips and stop for the tickets but if I had I would have won around 150 dollars or more I would have gotten 4 numbers out of 5 correct but sometimes thats the way it goes. I don't feel its a gambeling problem becasuse with me theres very little money involved Its just that I let it consume my time its every chance I get im working on it. People say theres no stratagy to winning the lottery some say theres only luck but from what Iv learned from the work and studing Iv done says that there are a few things you can do to improve your odds but other than that it is all very random and unpredictable thats why I don't always buy tickets. Its just that its time consuming and its an every day thing with me because if I get behind its hard to catch up on what Iv missed. But sometimes like now when Iv gone for a long time without buying any tickets its like Iv wasted my time working on it. What it is is that sometimes It would take a lot of money to win I would have to buy a lot of tickets and Im not going to do that I try to keep it at 20 dollars if I can't narrow my numbers down I don't play. The most Iv ever spent was 50 dollars and I won 216 dollars I had 2 tickets with one number wrong on each ticket so I got 4 out of 5 right twice and I won 108 per ticket. Days like that are few and far between. Am I just haviing fun or do I have a problem? I don't think most people would do what I do in there spare time I just don't feel normal. I feel like that because I haven't won in a while but I haven't lost any thing eather but when the numbers fall just right and I can work with what I have right in front of me and almost predict it like the future thats when I feel better about what I do in my spare time. I just know I will win big one day so I keep on keeping on! But I always play responsiable.

There is a reason that they call the lottery a tax on people who are bad at math. ;-) There is no such thing as a strategy for playing the lottery, though I know I won't be able to convince you of that. In the long run--in fact, in the short run--you lose money. The only way to shorten the odds is by buying more tickets, and to shorten them to anything like even odds would not be a matter of spending $150--it would be more like spending millions.

The part of your post where you say that you are spending large amounts of time on your 'strategy' is where I would start to question whether or not you have a problem. You may not be putting yourself in debt monetarily by playing an amount you can afford, but you are apparently spending more time than you have to spare on it. Something that consumes your time with little return is possibly not a good life strategy, if you see what I mean.

    Just food for thought.

Your numbers are as good as anyone else's until the first ball drops but you stand far more chance of being run over by a London double decker bus (even if you live in USA) than scooping the jackpot. As with all gambling the only true winners are not the bulk of gamblers. If wishful thinking keeps you going however then keep on spending. As the saying goes - you cannot win if you are not in it - despite what a lot of Nigerian scammers try to get you to believe.

you may be a compulsive gambler with a hint of ocd.

Im just kidding, but it seems that you have a lot of anxiety over the lottery.

I didn't read what you wrote. But, that you spent that much time trying to figure out if you're obsessive compulsive is enough for me! So, yes, you are!
