if you purchase the 1st gen i phone... can you get the old plan or do you have to get the new 3g plan?

Question

The plans for the 1st gen were cheaper.. now with the new phone the plan is more expensive, but the phone is cheaper.

Just wondering if I was a new customer.

Well, technically, you shouldn't be able to purchase the first generation officially (From Apple). But if you get one from like ebay or something, you will most likely get the old plan, because the NEW plan for the 3g iphone is just that: 3G, which is not supported on the original iphone. :)

But i just reccomend paying extra for the 3G contract. While it is more expensive ($70 a month minimum, which is unlimited data and 450 anytime minutes), the service is faster, and the actual phone is cheaper.
