should snow driving be part of the uk driving test?

This last few days of some snow and it brings chaos across the nations road networks.

Update:

obviously it would be based on a simulation like a skid pan. They do it in sweden and norway!!!

Why bother? You don't have to drive in the dark, in rain, high winds, fog or on motorways to pass a test: That's why the standard of driving on the roads is getting worse by the day.

You can't replace common sense with training: Watching the news this week, the roads are full of morons nearly killing themselves & others in conditions they don't have the ability or the vehicle to drive in.

Maybe skid pan training should be part of the pass plus, along with driving in other adverse conditions on a simulator. Pilots train in simulators, why can't learners or new drivers?

But it doesn't matter how much training you give people, their will always be morons on the road, who think the highway code, and driving safetly for the conditions and being able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear, doesn't apply to them and that they can drive how they like.

If you're prepared to wait several years to pass your test, then yes.

Joking apart, maybe skid pan training should be included in the driving test, perhaps as a separate module. Or maybe make it optional, but give those who pass it a reduction in their insurance premiums.

yes!! everyone is like OMG i cant drive in the snow!!!!

i mean how do they think people carry on in places where it snows all the time. im sure they dont just never leave their houses

i really agree with you, and thats a gud point about norway and sweden. i think they have got it going on over there in many ways

Brilliant idea - make everyone wait until it snows before letting them take a driving test.

    Not really a practical suggestion...........

it is part of the theory test it was on mine anyway, it cant be part of the driving test obviously because it would be unfair as its not normal driving conditions and youwould have to take your test in the snow.

And considering normally it only snows about 10days outta 365days of the year

No, if anything motorway driving should be part of the test.
