does internet for the iPhone cost extra?
when you buy an iPhone to you have to buy a special, more expensive plan to be able to surf the internet and stuff. or is it like the iPod touch and its like a WIFI type thing?

No you don't have to buy the data plan. but if you don't want it you should get the Iphone not the iphone 3g because that is really the only difference. P.S. new phones are coming out with cheaper data plans and more features than the iphone 3g. look at the omnia, G1, or Xperia. Try not to be marketed in by the third party apps offered by apple. because you wont use them much. Also you can't buy insurance on it and it's a decent investment.

The iphone has its own internet plan i believe its like an extra 25$ on top of the plan for the minutes and no the phone cant be activated without internet otherwise they'll bill you like a $200 fine

It does have wifi, but AT&T will not let you activate or buy an iphone without getting an unlimited data plan, which costs $30 extra a month.
