windows media player?
after uncle decided to remove media player last weekend now when I re download media player it still wont work, "No Sound etc" have tried downloading an older version & the roll back to previous version but to no avail...what am I doing wrong ????

Your windows media player is working al right. but wmp needs different codecs to play certain video files types.
Make live easy and install Gomplayer. a free media player, that plays all file types
Install gomplayer
goto preferences
others
select all
File Types and Codec
Now try to play your videos again
