East Coast Ski Resorts? Snowshoe, WV, Killington, VT or ??? Help?
I live in Pittsburgh, PA and am looking for a ski resort to make a week-long getaway next year. We will be driving and would like to keep it under 8 hours. We like l-o-n-g and steep slopes. We will have a mix of very capable snowboarders and skiiers.
I am already looking at Snowshoe or Killington but have never been to either. Wisp sucks and we frequent Seven Springs. Any other ideas?

What about whiteface Mountain in the Lake Placid region of Upper New York state. There is more here:

A little farther west (and possibly farther than you wish to drive) is Mount Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. More here:

There is also Bretton Woods on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. More here;

Good luck.

The nearest VT ski resort is just a tad across the southern border and is either Mount Snow, Bromley, or Stratton. Stratton has some of the longest trails in the state which kind of spirals around the edge. Smugglers Notch also has long trails of Madonna Mountain but honestly, if you're looking for really long trails, either go to Colorado or Alpe D'Huey in France. The trail in France is over ten miles of one consecutive trail. If you're trying to keep it under eight hours then either Mount Snow or Stratton which have difficult trails and terrain parks on each.

Definitely Snowshoe!! They have the absolute best skiing on the east coast. They have really long slopes plus snowshoe is a village so it is absolutely gorgeous there!! Plenty of awesome places to stay and they have the best most challenging slopes. It is a very friendly environment there everyone is soo nice too!! It is my favorite ski resort ever!! And if you are looking to be staying near the harder trails there is a place called the Soaring Eagle where you can just go out the back door and ski!! its a really really nice place to stay too. I love it soo much there!!
Have fun on your trip!!

Try The University of New Hampshire in Durham. Most ski areas in the Northeast are within a three hour ride of there. Nice campus and just an hour north of Boston(Train right from campus)
