More power from a 200 6cyl '67 Mustang?
What can I do to get more power out of my '67 Mustang while keeping it as close to original as I can? It has the 200 6 cyl engine w/ 3 speed automatic.

My granddaughter has a '66 with a six cylinder automatic in it - and it sure is numb - which is a shame because it's a really sporty looking car.
A 250 cu.in. might be a good place to start - it's essentially a bolt in with 25% more displacement. Keep the old engine aside in case you ever sell it to a purist who's looking for originality.
I honestly can't think of a whole lot that you could do to a 200 six that would result in any real significant performance.

Try Cliffords Performance. They have headers, cams, intakes and carbs to make 6 cylinder cars go fast. I also have a friend that got some kind of a super hot head from Australlia that makes his 6 just scream.
Here is the Cliffords Performance 200 link:http://www.cliffordperformance.net/Merchant2/merch...

You have left me with out much to work with. You can at least restore lost power due to age and miles by rebuilding the engine. If you want more power just replace the engine with a modern V8 engine from a GT model.

you could put an aftermarket 302 in it which is made for ford mustangs but the 67 didnt originally come with a 302

there might be 1 thing you can do if your wanting to keep the 200. you could take the head off and have it shaved. that will give you some more horses. also if you have points, change the distributor and use dual points.

you could bypass to a three carb set-up with a manifold and a 2 piece header those are ordinary up-grades greater desirable throttle reaction greater potential and toque. Offenhouser is the enterprise seem them up online.

add a coldair intake and throttle body spacers, and upgrade the exhaust those three things alone would give u atleast a 30 - 50 hp gain

Here's what a friend of mine did with his.
He did more than you probably would want to, but you might want to try one or two of his modifications.

well...buy an intake, exhaust system (if its v8 it will sound great), headers, anything small i guess
but one thing that will really change it is to convert it to a manual w/clutch
