My mom wanted to get me a Mac for Christmas, I know it's forever away but there expensive so if I'm want one I need to tell her now. I've grown up on windows and I've only used a Mac for 2 minutes on the apple store, and i didn't even know how to get on the internet so would it be hard to get used to .
Also I have a lot of games for my PC if I got a Mac would I need to get all New games

The enormous difference between Macs and Windows is the user interface, as you might already know. Macs are also much more expensive, but they can last longer than PCs. Also, most people want Macs instead of PCs, probably because of the fact that they last longer and is easier to use than Windows. Actually, I myself have tried using a Mac in an Apple store, and I really didn't like its interface. I preferred Windows Vista, which I think is the best operating system on the market. Do not buy a Mac. They are not worth it and they are hard to use (in my opinion). Instead, compromise with your mom if you can get a Dell Inspiron laptop at Best Buy with Vista or Windows 7 preinstalled (that's what version of Windows is coming up next). But if you get Vista in your machine, you'll get a free to reduced price upgrade to Windows 7. Convince your mom that PCs are much less expensive and can be easier to use than Macs. But if you still want a Mac, you can get a program called Bootcamp to run a copy of a Windows Operating System along with a MacIntosh. If you do that, then you'll probably have no problems with compatibility.

They are kind of the same but windows are sometimes more complicated and there is more programs compatible with it, also there is windows vista. Macs are good for artist and very easy to use and also there are a some programs apple makes just for macs.

Macs make files every hour or so if you delete something it will be stored again somewhere on the mac, and vista is ok but you have to click "continue" a lot if you don't shut it off, also newer vista programs don't freeze but the old ones do. And most online games are for microsoft not mac so if your a gamer id get a vista.

I love my mac. Bought it last year and am in love. No more windows unless I'm at work and that's by force. It was a learning curve but it was a welcomed one. I love my mac. One drawback is that you will not be able to play most games that are played on windows on a mac, unless you install windows on a mac so that you have both OS's and install the game on the windows side. Good luck w/ your decision!

You're not going to see a huge difference. The only reason you should get a mac is for editing pictures (photoshop etc.). Macs CAN get viruses, and in my opinion there is going to be the same amount of mac viruses as windows viruses in 2010. Just get norton 360, and firefox and you shouldn't get viruses. If you feel most comfortable with pc's then get a pc. If you want a mac get a mac. Both operating systems suck dick anyway. And pc's have better software for video editing, above poster is wrong.

If you like games, go with pc. If you like editing pictures/music/videos, I hear iLife '09 is the best comparitable software in that price range. If neither applies to you, it doesn't really matter. If you get a computer pre-installed with Vista, it'll be sure to work. In my opinion, macs are overpriced, and not worth it to the average consumer.
DON'T get Norton 360 as your antivirus, get Nod32 or Kaspersky 2009.

Mac is a ripoff for the features you get and offers nothing more than some eye candy and slightly better security. You're better off getting a PC, which you can actually game on and has a huge software selection.

Macs are great if you do a lot of video, picture, or sound editing, but there are pretty much no games for it, a lot of hardware won't work, and a lot of programs aren't written for Mac.
