Spiritually speaking do you ever type a smart alec?

borderline offensive answer, look at it for a minute then hit back instead of send? Am I the only one? Does this mean that I love my neighbors or that I'm chicken?

On a related note do any of you feel a bit sorry for people who ask "What's the difference between Catholic and Christian?" Or "Why are there still monkeys?" Or cite Answers in Genesis when responding to science questions?

<<Spiritually speaking do you ever type a smart alec?>>

    Oh yeah!

<<borderline offensive answer, look at it for a minute then hit back instead of send? Am I the only one? Does this mean that I love my neighbors or that I'm chicken?>>

I try not to be offensive but, in situations when I know the asker is being a smart alec AND there is a 99% chance a conventional answer won't be taken seriously, I will be blunt, but not rude.

If I can manage it, I like to be witty, and perhaps make a point without looking like I've made a point, if you know what I mean.

<<On a related note do any of you feel a bit sorry for people who ask "What's the difference between Catholic and Christian?">>

I do simply because the answer is so obvious. How mislead does someone have to be before seriously asking such a question?

<<Or "Why are there still monkeys?" Or cite Answers in Genesis when responding to science questions?>>

I feel sorry for those who ask such questions or make statements like, "The Bible doesn't say anything about dinosaurs!". I just goes to show they haven't actually read the Book of Genesis. Or, if they did, they certainly didn't learn anything.

I am getting a little bit better at holding back on sarcastic replies, but not by much.

The "What's the difference between Catholic and Christian?" Or "Why are there still monkeys?" Or cite Answers in Genesis when responding to science questions" really rubs me the wrong way.

I am not sure what Pomp and Glamorous Enigma is but I would guess that True friendship takes two people that can accept others short comings with compassion and love for one another. To not harbor selfish ambitions or grudges. Pride has to take a back seat and putting other more important than yourself is a good start. I greet people with a smile and acknowledge others even if I do not know them.

I stop myself frequently, I'm getting better. As to Science Answers in Genesis, I try to imagine myself quoting science answers from the brothers Grimm, while not having a clue how ridiculous that looks.

I on occasion have found myself incensed with a couple of questions and just want to light into someone. I apologized to one person in a private message after myself and another answerer questioned the truth behind the a persons question.

No these are opportunities to set a good example.

Hey, I found some Genesis too...

You see the face on the tv screen

    Coming at you every sunday

See that face on the billboard

    That man is me

On the cover of the magazine

Theres no question why Im smiling

You buy a piece of paradise

You buy a piece of me

Ill get you everything you wanted

Ill get you everything you need

Dont need to believe in hereafter

    Just believe in me

    Cos jesus he knows me

    And he knows Im right

Ive been talking to jesus all my life

    Oh yes he knows me

    And he knows Im right

    And hes been telling me

    Everything is alright

    I believe in the family

With my ever loving wife beside me

But she dont know about my girlfriend

Or the man I met last night

    Do you believe in god

    Cos thats what Im selling

And if you wanna get to heaven

    Ill see you right

You wont even have to leave your house

    Or get outta your chair

You dont even have to touch that dial

    Cos Im everywhere

    And jesus he knows me

    And he knows Im right

Ive been talking to jesus all my life

    Oh yes he knows me

    And he knows Im right

    Well hes been telling me

    Everythings gonna be alright

Wont find me practising what Im preaching

Wont find me making no sacrifice

But I can get you a pocketful of miracles

If you promise to be good, try to be nice

God will take good care of you

Just do as I say, dont do as I do

    Im counting my blessings,

    Ive found true happiness

Cos Im getting richer, day by day

You can find me in the phone book,

Just call my toll free number

You can do it anyway you want

    Just do it right away

Therell be no doubt in your mind

    Youll believe everything Im saying

If you wanna get closer to him

Get on your knees and start payingCos jesus he knows me

    And he knows Im right

Ive been talking to jesus all my life

    Oh yes he knows me

    And he knows Im right

    Well hes been telling me

    Everythings gonna be alright, alright

    Jesus he knows me

Jesus he knows me, you know...

Your not the only one to hit "back" instead of "send", Fr. A., but we are not in a civilized discussion. It's more like a bar room brawl and you only get one punch. If the Internet indicates a cross section of cultural values...

We are not called to nice all the time, we are called to be truthful.

Yes I think they are a bit touched in the head, and I feel sorry for them sometimes ,but when they are offensive, and they insult things that I consider sacred, sometimes I loose my patience and touch the red hand, sorry but perhaps next time they are going to be more careful

    Greetings from Parque del Plata.

I have done that many times! Luckily I usually think better of it before giving an unChristian answer.

And yes, I feel very sorry for people who ask those same old questions over and Over and OVER again...HELLO! We get it, you think we're not Christians...MOVE ON!

Yes, sometimes an answer will just be too ignorant for me to respond.
