  • Spiritually speaking, explain the usual requirements for church membership, how does this tie in with baptism?

My wife and I have been worshiping in a fundamental Baptist setting for about two years. She recently wanted to be baptized after accepting Christ and I was ready to become a member being a believer and Baptized at a early age, in the usual Baptist tradition of full immersion. The interview process went horrible for my wife she was left in tears. She was raised as a Jehovah's witness. She accepted Jesus as her savior and really this was genuine. She started asking me questions and then later she talked with a lady friend she was attending a Bible study with. I thought she had all her questions cleared up, but she did not. When the interview cam up with the deacons it ended with an apology for upsetting her so.

A few weeks later she told me in a church service she wanted to talk to someone and erase any doubts of her unbelief.

She did this and she accepted Jesus!

Since then we had started a Bible study with a Deacon and his wife.

Today there two people were baptized and they then were made members of the church.

I knew this service was coming and I hoped and prayed there would have been some kind of communication about where she stood with the whole process. Nothing.

She was asked to run the nursery the children so she did not see the two become members, but she did see the baptism.

I feel like this was bull.

It just does not add up in my mind.

Am I overreacting to be put off and offended some?

What were others experiences and what was required of others to become a meber of a Church as I described.?
