Want beautiful beaches in St. Thomas - is Bolongo Bay a good place to stay?

I'm a 24 year old girl, planning on traveling to St. Thomas for a week in March with some friends. We want beautiful beaches and know of a few (Coki Beach, Sapphire Beach, Magen's Bay, Lindquist Beach etc.), but found a good, affordable condo in Bolongo Bay. Is this a good place to stay and will it be easy to get to the other beaches/destinations on the island via taxi?

The beach at Bolongo is nice as are te other beaches you mentioned. Taxis are plentiful but are priced per person, not per destination. For example, my guess is that the fare from the airport to Bolongo is $16-$18 per person. This can get expensive so if you are going to go around the island a lot, you might consider a rental car. There is an alternative to the taxis. Safari taxis are used by locals to go around the island. These do not take you directly to a destination (unless you are headed to somewhere on a main road) but drop you off on a main road that is near your destination. Safari taxi fare is $2 per person, per trip. Safari taxis don't go everywhere; for example, they do not go to the airport. They also don't run late at night. To catch one of these, you would stand on the main highway near Bolongo and flag one down that i sheaded in the direction you want to go in. Before you get in, make sure it is a safari taxi as sometimes the tourist taxis look similar.

Everything is close in St.Thomas. The hotel can arrange for a taxi to take you anywhere. Personally I prefer Sapphire Beach resort. It is closer to Red Hook, where there is a lot of activity.

Bolongo Bay, at least in the past, was known as a "family" resort - good deals for kids, etc. It is supposedly on a nice beach.

Go to TripAdvisor.com and you'll find comments from past guests.

The more beautiful beaches in the USVI are on St. John.

My preference would be Sandals. I have seen great reviews but have not been to the Bahamas location. Check out the reviws on the link below.
