Did labor hit you fast or creep up slowly?

Labor hit me like a freight train. I felt my first twinge of a contraction at 11:00pm. It felt like a very mild period cramp. Then suddenly they were 3 min apart. I went to the hospital at 1:00 am and I was 10 cm at 3:00 am. I didn't even get to ask for drugs. I shocked the doctor and the nurses by how fast it all went as I was having child #1.

Well i was induced. But i was having contractions all day before i was induced at 1am the next morning. I started having them around 8-9am... but they werent that uncomfortable, nor regular. But as soon as i was induced, and they started my labor. It hit me like a freight train. They started my induction around 2am... and by 230-3am... i was so uncomfortable and in extreme pain. Plus the fact that my contractions were so intense, and coming so often... it wasn't giving my son enough time in between to recooperate. So they had to talk to me about the c-section alternative. I never got to that point cause they gave me a shot to slow down my contractions, an epidural for the pain (which was wonderful) and an oxygen mask to help keep my baby's heartrate up.

The only problem was, that i was in labor for 18 hours (16 hours, 2hours of pushing)

Both, I guess-I had weird back pain the night before full on labor hit, more than the usual with being pregnant, thought I had overdone Xmas shopping. 24 hours later I was hit, like a freight train with back labor, hard contractons every 6-10 minutes. I eventually needed a ton of pitocin but of course my baby boy is worth it. Glad to hear the 2nd time is different! And best wishes! :)

I started having mild contractions late Saturday night. then by Sunday night they went from 15 mins apart to 5 mins apart very suddenly so i finally went to the hospital at that point and i ended up pushing for 1 hour and had my baby girl monday morning on Jan 19

My water broke at 7am.. around 12pm, still wasn't dialated any more.. so they gave me pitocin and around 4pm I was about 6cm dialated.. they checked me again at 9:45pm when I said I felt like I had to push and I was still 6cm.. Well 15 minutes later I was 10cm and had her 15 minutes later!
