1 month old refuses to be put down! it's insane!?
My grandson is a month old and he will not let u put him down unless he is sleep. Otherwise, he screams to the top of his lungs....yet no tears are present. He's not hungry, wet or sick or have colic or he would keep rying when u pick him up, but he stops as soon as he is picked up. He just wont let you put him down if hes not sleeping! Can he even see at this age to know when you walk away from him or is he going by your touch and smell? Please help....his mother was never this way when she was a baby, so i dunno how a infant can cry with no tears present???

erm.. he s a baby :) my son is still the same! he had tears after 2months cos his tear ducts wer still closed. y not try a baby sling? if u cant carry him around then try a baby swing, sit by the swing for a bit so he knows that ur not just puttin him in n walking off. show him the different colours n textures n start swingin him. slowly move away whilst still tlkin to him. but then dnt leav him hours in it! tc xx

Infants often don't have any tears when they cry. He just sounds like a high needs baby. My son is the same way, except the first 2 months I couldn't put him down when he was sleeping either. It will pass as he gets older, my baby started getting better around 10 weeks. He's 3 1/2 months now and has some play time without me holding him and sleeps without being held at night sometimes.

Most infants will cry with no tears as they are not capable of producing tears yet. My son is 11 weeks and is just now letting us set him down for short periods. He usually has to be held and walked around.

He can't produce tears yet. Tell your daughter to buy a sling or a baby wrap, I really love the moby wrap. He has been comfy inside a belly for 9 months and the world is new and scary to him. He just wants to be held. Don't leave him there crying.

First of all, at one month old, that baby is not producing tears yet. That happens sometime around 4 - 5 months. Second of all, a one month old only cries when something is wrong. Does he have acid reflux? Could he be too hot or too cold. Please do not leave him there crying. He is a newborn, and needs to be comforted.

I have a 9 month old and my doctor says its pretty much impossible to spoil a newborn because they only cry wen they need something. and if everything seems okay he could be in pain in someway you cant see.
and when mine was a newborn he didn't cry tears even when he was in pain or wet or anything. I don't think their tear ducts are fully developed to produce tears yet.
i say talk to a doctor and get him checked out only bc he is so little and its not healthy for him to cry constantly even if there isnt any tears, all thought its healthy for them to cry a little.

He's only a month old! He's fresh out of his mommy's tummy. Of course he doesn't want to be put down. Enjoy cuddling with him...as you know, they don't stay babies forever.
Does your daughter have a sling? That way, the baby can be be close to you, and you can have your hands free to do whatever it is you need to do. If she doesn't have one, it might be a good idea to purchase one.
Good luck gramma! :-)

Tears aren't produced for the first little while of life for most babies. They'll come a little later.
As for the crying, you may just have to let him scream for a while. He can't be in someone's arms all the time, and he needs to get used to being put down. So as much as it will hurt hearing him scream and not going to him, he will get over it.

I agree with eml, it takes a while for their tear glands to start working. most babies have no tears at that age.

While I don't think you can spoil an infant by holding them too much, it is also true that it doesn't hurt them to cry for a minute or two. I mean, everyone has to pee at some point. It's stressful to listen to them cry, but it doesn't hurt them.
