Englands fans: Name your side for the 2nd test please.?

My 11 would be:

Cook (last chance mate, don't be out Treskothic like again to 3rd slip)

Strauss (let's have some leadership, don't bowl Flintoff all of the time, improve your series average from 8)

Pieterson (play for the team this time, straight bat and occupy the crease, no sixes or arguing with the fielders)

Shah (c'mon then, you have been waiting, now show us)

Collingwood (time to do some work matey, bowling needed as well)

Flintoff (another straight bat please, no sixes)

Prior (ok you got a good ball and were batting too early)

Swann (step up to the plate matey)

Broad (bat as well as you bowl and you'll shine)

Sidebottom (swing please)

Anderson (more swing please)

12th man Harmison, might be useful as an occasional fielder and to fetch drinks, not much else.

Bowling to come from Pieterson as well to help Swann tie up an end. Attack the other end.

I'd also call up Robert Key (opener), Liam Plunkett (at 8) and Sajid Mahmood (for speed) to send a message to anyone thinking of failing! Oh, and if you want to play in the IPL then **** off, I'll find someone else for England.

Not being able to call up any replacements (Key comes to mind), then I'd go for:

    Strauss

    Cook

    Pietersen

    Shah

    Collingwood

    Flintoff

    Prior

    Rashid

    Broad

    Swann

    Sidebottom

    On the basis that:

    1. Pietersen is the best batsman, and the best batsman should bat at number 3 regardless whether he wants to or not.

    2. I would have dropped Bell for Shah over a year ago.

    3. If England are ever going to play two spinners in a test, then Antigua is the place to do it. Panesar shouldn't just be dropped after being outbowled by Benn in Kingston, he should have his central contract torn up too. Adil Rashid has to play before the Ashes get underway too.

    4. Broad and Sidebottom were far and away the best of the England bowlers in the last match, and the pitch in Antigua is very unlikely to give Harmison much help.

Sounds good to me. Having said that, any side without Panesar is going to be an improvement.

How on Earth has he been picked for so long, he's kak! Cant bat, can't field and is only a mediocre bowler. Did he drive everyone home and carry their bags?

I don't entirely agree about Rob Key. He's had a fair chance and he's looked well out of his depth every time as well as looking like Elmer Fudd, the little guy who chases Bugs Bunny with a gun shouting 'I hate that scwewwy wabbit'. He moans too much as well.

firstly no, Pietersen whether as reliable a participant for English Cricket as Beckham has been for English soccer, can in no way be an analogous style call icon that Beckham has been. firstly using fact hes a cricketer, secondly using fact he's a much extra deepest guy or woman faraway from the interest who genereates much less interest and thirdly bacause he does no longer carry an analogous marketability aspect as somebody like Beckham. Going on your different factors i do think of Cricket is increasing in popularity in England, there are a number of extra Indians and Pakistanis born right here who love the sport and likewise after the 2005 ashes sequence fulfillment it had a extensive impact on participation interior the sport and made it lots extra marketable and proved that's thrilling. Cricket is so extensive in India and Pakistan & Sri Lanka and so forth. using fact they play no longer the rest!

Cook (I think he has a lot of talent)

    Strauss (very stable)

Pietersen (do i need to justify his conclusion???!!)

    Shah/ Bopara (they have talent)

    Collingwood (again, stable)

    Flintoff (same as KP)

Prior (Though I think he's useless. We need a better wicket-keeper!!!)

    Swann (Talented)

    Broad (Tall and fast)

Anderson (I don't know why, but I always have a huge expectation from him)

    Panesar (--)

    I agree with 12th man Harmison. :)

I think the selectors need to look closely at the county matches and try and uncover those rare gems.....

This may sound facetious, but I would go look at the county sides to pick most of the team, just as we had to raid our domestic teams. Let's face it, they couldn't do worse then your team did in the 1st test.
