What does "emo" mean?

Originally it was short for "emotionally disturbed" (compare with "psycho") but nowadays kids usually seem to think it's just short for "emotional," as in the other answer. It's more or less the latest incarnation of "goth".
Basically, it used to be that "emo" was a kid banging his head on the wall in the corner, but now it's 5 kids hanging out at the mall wearing stuff from the emo aisle at Hot Topic.
