ont even consider trying to turn this truck into a 4x4......... it wont happen... also, tough to trade an 08 anything for something older just to get 4x4, but i know where youre coming from. always wanted a kick-butt loaded 4x4, but couldnt justify it. only drive a mile to work and back. well, i drove past a loaded 05 dakota slt 4x4 one morning, drove it home, and came back the next nite to pay for it. best thing i ever did. i had a 99 dakota with a 2" body lift and 31" tires that i bought new for my daughter when he was a senior in high school, but it was only rear wheel drive. i got stuck 1 time last winter leaving work and told myself,it wouldnt happen again,as a 35 yr ase master tech, please dont consider converting this truck to 4x4. years ago it was possible, but not now

I've always heard the best trucks on the market are Dodge & Ford. Depending on if you want a diesel or gas. Dodge has a really great diesel & gas motors, and so does Ford. Chevrolet has decent gas motors but not good diesel. If i were you, i would get a Dodge or Ford (if you want a full size truck). Mid-Size trucks, I would go for a newer Toyota or something like that.
