Trying to remember an economic term I have forgotten?

There's lots of layoffs going around right now. I seem to remember, two or three years ago, learning about a phenomenon where people who got laid off actually tended to wind up in better jobs later, because they were overqualified for the jobs they had but they didn't want to take a risk to find a better job. The layoffs forced them to take that risk and they were better off.

The teacher had a name for that phenomenon, and I just can't remember it. Can you help?
