What are my rights as a renter when it comes to mold?

I'm in a college dorm in Florida and a pipe burst upstairs and flooded the common room and kitchen w/ about an inch of water for 3-4 hours or so. They tried cleaning the rug with large industrial vacuums, but its still damp, it smells, and I think it's going to get moldy. Do they have to fix the problem or change my living arrangements or can I only request that they do so?

Do you have a manual on dorm rules? Follow their instructions.

Put in writing - WRITING - what happened, what they did and why you think it wasn't done properly. Ask them to remedy the situation.

Mold is very dangerous to your health. The smell is horrific. Yuck

Give them a chance to fix it. Document your efforts. If it does not work file a complaint with the President's office. If this does not work contact the health department.
