Grilled Cheese Sandwich Aficionados?

I love grilled cheese sandwiches, and not just your standard American on white. I made one out of Swiss on health nut bread the other day and my folks looked at me like I had a screw loose! So here's the question: Do you have a favorite combination that others think is weird?

Here are Mine:

Cheddar on a homemade white with onions, with ketchup for dipping.

Swiss and ham on any hole grain bread

Mozzarella or Provolone on french bread with tomatoes and spinach

And your classic Tuna melt with Monterey Jack or Swiss on light rye.

Tuna melts rule - no doubt about that.

But the purist in me likes a grilled cheese made on sourdough or como bread, two or three ultra thin slices of cheddar, one slice of that cheap old individually wrapped kind of American cheese - and a light sprinkling of blue cheese.

Of course - lubricate the bread with real butter not margarine.

Few things are as simple and tasty as a grilled cheese like that.

I'll also be a traditionalist and have tomato soup with a grilled cheese - but I add basil and blue cheese to that as well.

My partner likes thai basil leaves in his grilled cheese. I can't say I'm fond of greenery in my grilled cheese - but to each his own.

Smoked gouda cheese, along with a strong cheddar is also very good in a grilled cheese.

Dang it - now I want a grilled cheese!

    Enjoy!

i admire all of them. right here's a huge recipe. Grilled Cheese 2 slices of thick white bread (or you need to use prevalent - thick is greater useful) Velveeta (the real Velveeta cheese, no longer the keep kind Velveeta cheese - particularly makes a distinction) Butter / Margarine Frying pan - forged iron is super or you need to use prevalent. Butter the two area of the bread. upload the Velveeta to it. close the bread up. make confident the frying pan is moist with butter and bubbly (so as that it particularly is warm). place the sandwich in the boiling butter. Fry the two area till the bread is the consistency / color which you like (re: whitish, beige, brown or black). i admire )mine dark brown - some human beings desire very almost black. counting on the colour you p.c.. (to your bread to cook dinner to) that is going to flavor distinctive (crispy, etc.) on the area: Tomato Soup (upload milk, shredded cheese, and basil on the tip - see can classes in case you're uncertain). candy Pickles Crackers Cheese (for the crackers - in case you're a real cheese-aholic) ! selfmade Iced Tea (solar Tea)

Sounds delicious! I usually make mine with Arnold country white bread and white American cheese, and real butter to fry it in. If I'm at a diner, I'm partial to grilled mozzarella & tomato.

I love 'em too - especially on sliced sourdough. And you might think THIS is weird, but I dip mine in mayo. :)
