How can you ease lower back pain?
I can feel a knot deep in the muscle of my partner's lower back causing her a lot of discomfort.
Is there a way to release the knot or to ease the pain that she is suffering while it releases naturally?

You can put a towel in a pot of boiling water and place it on back for 15 mins at a time. Really helps with pain.

You should check this Sciatica Natural Treatment
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica. Try a reputable chiropractor ASAP!

Heat applied to the affected area will provide some relief. You may take acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen as long as you feel significant pain. The person should sleep, pillowless, in one of the following arrangements: on a very firm mattress, with a bed board under the mattress, on a waterbed, or even on the floor. A folded towel beneath the low back and a pillow under the knee may increase comfort.
If significant pain persists beyond a week, call the doctor. And good luck.

Gravity boots and inversion therapy will fix this. It did for me. I had surgery in 04 and even after the surgery I still had stiffness, sciatica and weak legs. My friend let me hang upside down on his gravity rack and after only one treatment I could feel the muscles of my abs, legs, back and hips all start to loosen up, relax and un knot. I hang upside down daily and when I need relief from pain. This could do it for you and the whole set up is only $150.00. Google: online health mart sciatica :to read about how it will help you. Take care.
