Dodge Challenger RT or Ford Mustang GT with a Supercharger?
I'm in the business of buying a new car, and i've just got done test driving both the Dodge Challenger RT (~370hp) and the Ford Mustang GT with a supercharger (400hp), and I was wondering, which would be a better car?

personally I would go with the Mustang:
-the future of Chyrsler is seriously in doubt and for certain a small production line like the Challenger may be cut (or at least the high performance models....and that means there will be a limited following of these cars by the after market product manufacturers.
-the Mustang modular 4.6 engine has been well proven and constantly upgraded. It is exceptionally strong. The Mustang is the most popular muscle car and has been in constant production for almost 45 yrs, and it has the largest following of after market producers OF ANY CAR, and likely will have for a long time....the whole basis of owning a Mustang is to modify and enhance it - that is the tradition of the breed.
whatever happens in the auto industry there will always be parts for a Mustang and always be performance opportunities, and they will be at a lower cost than any of the other products from either General Motors or Chyrsler....(last thing anyone would wnat to do today is order a new Camaro, it will likely be dead in the water within 2yrs.).
If you have had the Mustang checked out by a pro -shop (compression, running gear, etc) and if you have seen the service records....and all looks OK i would for certain go with the Pony.

From a strictly utilitarian standpoint, the Challenger is larger, more economical and runs on regular grade gas. It also has an independent rear suspension (a legacy of the short-lived DaimlerChrysler union).
The only factory supercharged 'stangs I'm aware of wear Shelby label. In any event, a blower is one of those things that helps insurance agents plan their retirement.
Regardless of whether Chrysler ultimately survives, any vehicle you buy these days is probably going to last until you're sick of it. There are still people driving vehicles badged as AMC or Rambler. MGs still have fans despite being out of production for decades

I would suggest that you check with the dealer selling these high performance cars to see what kind of problems are showing up. The warranty on these cars may be shortened or eliminated for lack of maintenance inspections. Some dealers may have the historical service records on similarly equipped cars. Be observant of recall notices on used performance cars.

If your looking for something to have fun with, drive daily, and you can still buy parts cheap for go with the mustang.

idiot, they both have suspension from the 1840's. wait for the camaro to come out, it uses the suspension from the holden monaro (pontiac gto/g8) and has the corvette v8. it's the best of both worlds, so wait for that.
