Dog keeps scooting her butt on the floor?

My dog keeps rubbing her butt on the floor. She does this scooting thing like she is scratching her butt.

Does this mean she has worms?

Unlike humans dogs can not scratch their a_s any other way.

God I`m having fun answering some of these questions today, lol.

But honestly it could be an anal gland thing where as you can just go to a groomer to take care of it but I would not think it to be worms. Heck just check out her poop, you`ll see them if their there.

    Good Luck and God Bless

Could be worms. More than likely she needs her anal glands expressed. Scooting her rear on the floor is the number 1 sign of that. Take her to the Vet and get it done. It's messy and smelly but you can be taught to do it yourself...just ask to be shown while at the Vet.

Either she might have worms or more likely her anal glands need to be expressed if she hasn't already done it herself(by scooting). Go to the site for all the necessary info on glands - their function, how to express them yourself & if there are problems. It isn't hard to do yourself but very smelly & only do in a tub then do a bath to get rid of the odor. Otherwise you can go to vet or groomer to have it done.

all dogs have anal bags inside their rear end. these bags contain fluids that release lubricants to easy out the flow of feces. For smaller dogs which do not have firm stool, the liquid in these bags keeps getting accumulated till they become painfully big and sometimes infectious (which explains the howling and scooting--- dogs scoot to scratch that area). The solution is simple. you need to take that dog to either pet smart or to a nurse/vet who will squeeze all the liquid out of these bags.... its a really dirty job so don't even think about doing it on your own...

Could be worms or her annals need to be expressed. Either way, a trip to the vet is a very good idea.

  • you might want to take her to the vet and get her glands squeezed in her butt.. yes its gross but most indoor dogs need them squeezed.. if your keeping your dog healthy and stuff it should be worms i say take it to the vet just to make sure.

  • worms or her anals need draining.

a vet can take care of both.

it could be worms or she's just wiping her butt cause it's itchy or has left over poop.
