How many tours in Iraq or Afghanistan have you done?
I read that 60 percent of the Armed forces have not deployed while 40 percent have been on multiple deployments. How many times have you gone and how do you feel about those that keep dodging the deployments?
Your right, I had it backwards, the Army Times reported that 33.4 percent have not deployed. I'm not asking for anyone to bad mouth anyone, I was just curious to know how Soldiers react when they meet someone that isn't walking around with a patch on their right shoulder, which is tough to do these days. I served in the first Gulf War also and put in 26 years of active duty in the Army. Thank you all for serving.

I am qualified to wear 12 combat patches. You can have anyone of them if you want. My friend has 3 years in and through no fault of his own, has never deployed. I laugh, cause all he wants to do is be out here an "lead soldiers and fight, and do what he came in the Army to do."
Oh yeah? I am a 63B20H8, I fix trucks and can recover them if need be. I have been convoy security and Personal Security Detail. Very differen't than the motor pool.
While there are people who dodge deployments, there are people who just haven't deployed. They get more upset at their lack of SSI-FWT (combat patch) than we do. We just look at them and say "Relax, your time will come." Usually it does, then they come back and their like "Wow. So that was a deployment, huh?"
Unless you have a combat arms job. I will NEVER take away from those guys.

Not even one. It was just a TDY for a few months. And that's all that was neccessary.
Back during the first gulf war, we had a president who knew how to wage war - even if he did not know how to finish the job.

I think you're not going to find many service members speaking poorly against their brothers and sisters.
I did some time in Mosul, Tikrit and Baghdad.
