Wow..that was really quick. Thanks a lot for your replies. www.photofunia.com (http://www.photofunia.com/effects/19/) was what I was looking for but I wish there was a tutorail to achieve that effect in photo editing tools like photoshop. I shall check with Gimp too.

    Hi,

I myself do a lot of "magazine covers" for clients and friends, and family. However, I always do not recommend Photoshop, only for the simple fact that it can be very complicated for some.

When people ask me to give them a template for a magazine cover, I send them a png file so that they can easily edit them as they please and I always recommend using the old software microsoft digital image for people that aren't familiar with photoshop.

If you want a quick "superstar" stardom covers, try this site:

It is easy, and fast. Just click on a template, add your picture and viola!

    Goodluck.

The information you are asking for is very complex and time consuming. This is not a project for the inexperienced, and while we could type here all day to take you through the steps you would probably get lost or run into trouble anyway. Photoshop is a complex tool which even the experienced learn from every time they use it. I would suggest that you do a basic photoshop course, because without that knowledge it's like us trying to explain how to fly a plane when you've never been in a cockpit. I apologies if I sound condescending here, that isn't my intention, I'm just trying to get across to you that it is way more complex than you may envisage.

I don't know how they do it in photoshop however there are a couple of very good videos showing how to do it with Gimp which is a free image editor. I found them a few days ago by searching for gimp on youtube.com.
