More money in my bank account than I deposited?
I opened a new bank account today, and I deposited $200.00 into the account, but when I checked my account balance when I got home, it was reflecting $400.00. I think what happened was that the bank manager entered into the system that I deposited him $200 before he actually took the money, then after he took the money to the tellers to be deposited, they entered AGAIN that I had deposited $200, so now I have double the amount of cash. I asked some friends and they told me to just shut up and act like everything is cool, assuming they won't realize their error, but I feel really badly about this and I'm really not a crook. What would you do if you were in this situation? Would you be honest, or would you just keep it to yourself. This is a really tough morality test for me, because I could really use the money, but at the same time, I know it's wrong and dishonest and I was never raised that way. Please help.

I too had a similar situation and the amount was bigger than you they made double entry into my account. I kept silent and spend the money but after three months the bank found the error and they temporarily freeze my account till i returned the money it was embarrassing. So i suggest you to tell them. I had to borrow the money from friends hehe.........

Pens is right. They will realize the error and take the money back out at a later date, possibly over drafting your account.
So, your morals are worth $200? Think about it, you'll do the right thing if you were raised how you say you were.

You already know what to do do. Your conscience and your good raising are telling you. Chances are the bank will find the error, so just go ahead and do the right thing and tell them.
