Horse hay and guinea pig...?
I am planning on getting a guinea pig and I know they need hay. I have two horses and we keep their hay in a clean seperate stall in our barn. Is it alright for me to give the horse hay to a guinea pig, I know for a fact it is Timothy and Alfalfa... Thank You... :0)

Timothy hay contains less fat than Alfalfa. Alfalfa should be given to pregnant or feeding mothers and babies piggies. It's best to get Timothy for normal piggies. You can check by asking the supplier of the hay. Some don't know and some don't really care.
you can search for and buy timothy hay. You just don;t want the kind treated with pesticides. Horses can handle some, but it can kill a piggie. You can buy large bags from feed stores or pet stores, though they tend to be more expensive than if you bought from a private supplier.
Here are some great websites. You should check them out before getting a piggie.
Good luck!

You have good answers. We had a guinea pig but only used cedar chips. Sadly, we had no source for hay. Enjoy your new pet!
