Dental school/Orthodontic School?

Do you have to go to dental school in order to become an orthodontist or is a separate schooling for orthodontic students?

You would need to go to dental school first which is 4 years. Then you would need to go to an orthodontic residency which is another 3 years. So in total 7 years to be an orthodontist. This is of course all after you finish university studies which takes most people 4 years. It is worth the hard work though.
